It’s so boxy by comparison to literally any other scene we see of him. His eyes are also bloodshot, which is totally different from the Mr. Whatsit form. It’s giving flayed. It’s giving…idk what, even.

And it’s not like he’s lying, either. They are in the best possible hands at the hospital. They are improving. Karen is awake and cognizant. Ted’s stable.
It’s just weird to me to have him say that he’s been “told” of the Wheelers’ conditions rather than just informing Holly like a normal person. The degree of separation is so weird to me. Who’s telling you? Why introduce that question at all, especially when Holly seems precocious?
And so like. He definitely may be framing this all in a way that keeps Holly complacent, but why make promises he has no intention of keeping? If it was just the kids, why tell Holly he’s going to save her family too? Unless he just needs the bandaid to hold until everything has run its course…but it still just feels weird to me.

Can’t wait to see what Henry’s reaction to Holly going into the cave is. Girl are you going to be let back into the Garden of Eden or are you going to be reprimanded for going into the darkside cave seeking answers like Rey was by Luke. Luke, who secludes himself on purpose when everyone needs him most because his fear led to a massacre of younglings. Lol. Lmao, even.
So…either Max is constantly breaking into the Creel house to steal food, or she’s not eating. [TFS Brenner voice] You don’t eat, you don’t sleep…Sigh.
Anyway…I was going to put it in a separate post, but it kind of fits here. Literally where is Max getting all this shit from:
Is she stealing it from Henry in some way? From his memories of his life? His memories of her life? She can’t be that scared of him if she’s stealing shit from his memory prison world like this, no? Like if she’s so scared of Henry, then why’s she seemingly going out and stealing things from him to spruce up the Nightmare Mindflayer Cave where he refuses to go. Where is she getting it all from? It looks vintage, too. And also…why is it just a bunch of random shit. Is she just taking souvenirs from each memory she goes through? Or????
And if it’s a prison of memories that she’s observing, then:
Where’s everyone else? Where’s Henry? Why’d she wake up scared in the memory after the murders are done? And why does it always loop back to when the murders are over? Why do we never see anything about the fight or the monologue or Henry killing the children, the parts of all that that Henry’s actually allegedly there for? If she’s just an observer, then how is she seeing the rainbow room without Henry there in it? Does Henry not remember all that? Or?? And if Henry doesn’t remember it, then who does?
Not to mention that the sets are quite different between Max’s vision and NINA…
Hell, they can’t even pick a pose for the corpses WITHIN MAX’S SCENE!!
And when she’s looping through, does that not remind anyone else of Terry’s dream circle and the NINA opening where El has to loop through until she gets the script right? Or how El loops through to the massacre each time? Does it not remind anyone of the part of the VR game where Henry has to run through his memories to escape the Mindflayer, save for the massacre, which is a memory he refuses to return to because it’s too painful? Like how this Henry won’t go into the cave? No? No one’s getting NINAflayer vibes?

ah yes. i’m sure that holly being paralleled to the hobbits hiding and max being paralleled to the ringwraith kneeling above them is nothing to worry about at all.
i’m sure this is normal behaviour and parallels from a normal girl who is a normal friend and who is going to behave normally. all normal protagonists are directly paralleled to the shadow creatures that once used to be normal humans but aren’t anymore, don’t even worry about it.
So, Henry’s boy scouts uniform has this Valley Forge Jamboree patch:
And Valley Forge hosted three Boy Scouts Jamborees- one in 1950, one in 1957, and one in 1959.
What’s especially interesting, though, is that this particular patch is from the 1950 Jamboree:
The 1957 & 1964 Jamboree patches are both different, and neither has a yellow background, so this is very much the 1950 one:
And that’s interesting because it has some interesting implications regarding Henry’s age.
After all, in-show, Henry was supposedly 12 years old in 1959- which would mean that he was born in 1947. Which would mean that he was only 3 years old at the time of the 1950 Jamboree- two years too young to have been enlisted in Boy Scout of America in 1950, as their minimum starting age is 5 years old.
But according to TFS (specifically, the West End Playbook) Henry was born in 1945. Which would have made him 5 years old in 1950. Meaning that he WOULD have been able to enlist in the Boy Scouts and attend the Jamboree- except for the fact that the 1950 Jamboree was from June 27 to July 6, and according to TFS, Henry’s birthday is September 7th- so, he wouldn’t have turned 5 years old yet.
However, there’s also the fact that Henry being born in 1945 would’ve made him 14 in 1959- but Kate has talked about him being 15 in 1959/in TFS- which means that he WOULD have been eligible for the Jamboree/may have potentially been born in 1944.
And then all of THAT gets even more interesting with the fact that Max seemingly saw Henry’s memories of Hawkins High in 1959- not Hawkins elementary or Hawkins Middle, but Hawkins High- which means that (as has already been talked about extensively re: TFS) Henry would’ve been 14 or 15 years old in 1959.
Anyway, long story short: the stuff we’re seeing about in-show Young Henry in S5 seems to align more and more with TFS in ways that actively contradict existing in-show canon regarding Henry’s age- and that has me staring directly at the fact that Edward moved to Hawkins two years before Henry- and the fact that we have no idea what year Edward was born, and we never get an age stated in the papers for him the way we do for Henry.
Like. with the fact that Edward moved to Hawkins two years earlier, in 1957, that could potentially mean that Edward is two years older than Henry- which goes right back to what I said in the beginning of this post about in-show Henry being two years too young to have attended the 1950 Boy Scout Jamboree.
But if he was born two years earlier…. and if he potentially had a different birth date than West End TFS Henry’s September 7th birthday, a birth date prior to the dates of the Jamboree, then he would’ve been perfectly timed to attend it.
Which has me staring at all of the stuff re: S4 Dustin telling Steve to “move his date,” so that he can hang out with Eddie “Edward” munson. It has me staring at the fuckery re: the date of Will’s birthday being listed as both March and August, as well as the fucked up dates for the Creel murders in TFS that I know James has talked about.
Anyway! Just some thoughts. There’s Edward Creel everywhere for those with eyes to see….
